Methodology II

Mandatory course in Master´s Programme of Global Media Studies. Only students within the program.

Course in 3rd semester of the program.

The course assesses a spectrum of interpretative and explanatory Humanistic and Social Science methodologies used within Media and Communication Studies. The relevance of different methods for the study of media structures, production, content, and audience studies are discussed and critically reviewed during the course.

  • Course structure

    The course run half pace during first half of the semester. 
    For approved results on the course, the student must present:
    - in-depth skills in different types of survey methods used in media and
    communication science;
    - ability to critically relate to these; and
    - ability to formulate an independent method project.
     

    Teaching format

    Teaching takes place in English in the form of lectures, seminars and method exercises. All teaching is obligatory. Assignments and oral presentation at seminars are compulsory.

    Assessment

    A written home exam.

  • Schedule

    The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
