Eutrophication in the sea has also changed the inflow to terrestrial shorelines, from thick beds of bladderwrack to compact beds of green algae. This change is wrack bed structure may also affect the abundant insect and spider communities living on the shores. In particular, we have some preliminary data showing that spider and beetle communities may be strongly affected.

We are now seeking a student interested to study these communities along a the coast, either using a gradient from the Swedish west coast into the Baltic sea or in specific localities.

The work may thus involve extensive field work on shores by the sea, but also species identifications.
