Wetlands: a source of biodiversity or just a mosquito heaven?

Wetlands has disappeared at very high rates during the last 200 years, but are currently being recreated and restored. These newly established wetlands are important for many endangered species, but wetlands are also potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes. As a consequence, people living next to these wetlands may fear the mosquito invasion and argue against wetland constructions. One factor that seems to reduce the risk of mosquitoes is shoreline grazing.

We are looking for a student interested in studying mosquito emergence and communities in constructed wetlands with or without grazing.

The project involves field work in either Halland or Uppland, or both, and identification of adult mosquitoes.
