#Wiedervereinigung. Digitial remembrance culture of the German reunification on Twitter.

This project investigates how German speaking Twitter users remember the German reunification. The material consists of tweets that were posted in connection to the topic during the period of October 2019 - November 2020. The analysis aims at finding any patterns of digital practice (e.g. typical language use, reposting other users tweets or including references to other homepages) as manifestations of remembering. Therefore, this thesis roots its methodological framework within media linguistic studies and big data analysis as a large corpus of media usage is utilized to discuss cultural phenomena. Furthermore, this project will make use of theoretical concepts from cultural memory studies, such as memory, remembering, forgetting and archive. As these are grounded within institutional forms of media usage, this project will review them from a social media perspective.
