Research school on global governance

The graduate school enrolls PhD students with a focus on global governance. PhD students can connect with the center without being enrolled in its graduate school. Subject to space, the courses of the graduate school are open to PhD students from other Swedish universities. The graduate school is guided by the aims of the center, implying the promotion of cutting-edge, interdisciplinary, and inclusive research.

Key components
Courses. The graduate school offers a common course package, with two courses at 7,5 ECTS each (“Contestation of Global Governance” and “Frontiers in Research on Global Governance“). In addition, elective courses are situated at the participating departments at SU and open to all SCGG PhD students. The courses are interdisciplinary in orientation and are given by senior researchers from multiple disciplines associated with the center. Master students are eligible to apply.
Supervision. The graduate school provides joint resources for PhD supervision, such that PhD students can draw on the best available supervision competence, irrespective of disciplinary boundaries, and thus promote interdisciplinary cross-fertilization. This supervision is temporary and can be renewed each academic year. Interested PhD students and supervisors are welcome to make suggestions!
Seminars and workshops. The PhD students associated with the school are encouraged to take part in the center’s program events, where they have the opportunity to present dissertation plans, papers, and other work in progress. The PhD students are also eligible to apply for funding from the SCGG to organize their own workshops, such as writing workshops, research retreats, and career counseling events. Master students are welcome to participate.
International exchange. Through its network of international partner institutions, the center will offer PhD students associated with the graduate school excellent opportunities to research stays in other top-level research environments.
Career placement. As PhD students can have a profile on the SCGG’s homepage and feature their research and activities on the center homepage and newsletter, the center offers PhD students the possibility to be visible on the job market, both in academia and society more broadly.

Network
The broader network of the SCGG spans early career researchers, and senior researchers, alongside central persons in business, politics, media, civil society, research institutes, and public administration. This network is open to all center PhD student as well as Master students who wish to connect.
