New heads of the Department of Economics
From 1 August 2024, Mårten Palme is the head and Jonas Vlachos the deputy head of the Department of Economics at Stockholm University.
The head and the deputy head are responsible for the department’s operations, along with the head of administration and two directors of studies, who are also part of the management team.
Mårten Palme
Mårten Palme is a professor of economics. He received his PhD in 1993 from the Stockholm School of Economics and conducts research on income distribution and social insurance systems, among other topics.
Jonas Vlachos
Jonas Vlachos is a professor of economics. He received his PhD in 2002 from the Stockholm School of Economics and does research in the field of the economics of education, among other topics.
