Information from the department - programmes

Welcome to the Department of Human Geography at Stockholm University! Here is important information for those who are going to start a master's programme in the autumn semester 2024.

Before the semester starts, you must activate your university account and register. You should also familiarize yourself with the education by looking through the first course's schedule and reading list and by visiting the course's page on the learning platform Athena, where there may be additional important information.

Registration

You who have been accepted and have accepted the place at universityadmissions.se or antagning.se are welcome to register. To keep your place, you must register during the August 5–18 registration period. Please note that August 18 is the last registration day for all programmes and courses given in the autumn semester 2024. In order to register online, you must first activate your university account. It is no roll-call. You only need to confirm your programme selection by registering.

If you need help activating your university account or encounter technical problems, you can contact IT support via Serviceportalen.

If you have problems registering, contact our student affairs office before the last day of registration at studentexpedition@humangeo.su.se. Include your full namne (or your Swedish personal identity number) and which programme you are accepted to.

Log in to the learning platform Athena and go to the page for your first course. But first you need to activate your university account and register, see above.

Programme start and education

After registration, you are welcome to the programme introductions.

All master programme students in the Department of Human Geography:
September 2 at 12.00–13.00 in the Högbom Lecture Hall (house U, level 3) in the Geo-Science Building.

Master's Programme in Human Geography: 
September 2 at 13.00–14.00 in seminar room Y21 (house Y, level 2) in the Geo-Science Building.

Master's Programme in Urban and Regional Planning: 
September 2 at 13.00–14.00 in seminar room Y22 (house Y, level 2) in the Geo-Science Building.

Master's Programme in Globalization, Environment and Social Change: 
September 2 at 13.00–14.00 in seminar room U29 (house U, level 2) in the Geo-Science Building.

At the programme introduction, you will meet the programme director and all other students on the programme. You will also receive information about the programme design, content, form and practicalities. The course introduction on September 2 takes place in the Geo-Science Building; exact time and place can be found in the schedule for the programme's first course.

Teaching starts immediately at the start of the semester.

Master's Programme in Human Geography, 120 credits

Master's Programme in Globalization, Environment and Social Change, 120 credits
