The LL.M. Program

The University of Illinois College of Law's LL.M. program has several notable features, including:

  • Flexible start dates: Students may apply to begin the degree program in the fall semester (August start) or the spring semester (January start).
  • Two or three semester LLM option.
  • Concentrations: With a customizable curriculum to meet students’ academic and professional needs, the Illinois LL.M. program also offers optional subject matter concentrations to allow students to deepen their knowledge in a particular legal field.
  • The Illinois LL.M. program is open to non-lawyer professionals (for example, accountants, engineers, business professionals, and legislators) who desire a legal training but who do not have an undergraduate degree in law.
  • 2-week online summer course, “Best of American Case Law”: an excellent choice for recent graduates and practicing attorneys contemplating a future LL.M. or seeking to practice legal English. Next held in July 2022.
