Student exchange at our partner universities

Start early and contact our exchange coordinator. Here is what you need to do to apply for exchange studies.

If you want to go on a student exchange, it is important to start planning well in advance. It takes time to locate useful courses and to discuss them with us in the department.

The application deadline is usually in April or May in the semester before the exchange semester. By that time, you must have decided which courses you wish to take.

How to apply

Start by checking the course offerings of our partner universities. Download and fill in the course selection checklist (see below).

Contact the department exchange coordinator and tell her

  • your name
  • what you are studying in our department
  • when you would like to go, and whether it is for one or two semesters
  • what countries/institutions you would like to go to, and whether you know the language spoken there
  • how you are getting on with the checklist
  • a bit about why you want to do exchange studies, and why in that particular location

If you find or know of an institution with which we do not have an exchange agreement but which offers relevant courses, do let us know – we can usually get a new agreement in place.

Notes for outgoing students

If you want to go on exchange studies, please note the following:

  • It is your job to fint out about suitable courses at the destination. This takes time, so start early and keep in touch with our exchange coordinator.
  • If some semesters in your programme has slots for elective courses, that may be a good time to go.
  • You do not have to match every course of your programme, but keep an eye on the course required for the degree you are aiming for.
