Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)

Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) facility at Stockholm University provides resources and expertise in acquisition and interpretation of NMR data from solid materials.

Besides NMR methodology development and support for research groups at Stockholm University, the facility is also open to other universities, institutes and industry.

Facility operates two solid-state, wide-bore NMR spectrometers with magnetic field strengths of 14.1 and 9.4 Tesla, as well as 9.4 T liquid-state NMR spectrometer. Solid-state systems are equipped with variable temperature units and wide selection of probeheads offering excellent capabilities for materials science, chemistry, and biology. In order to provide reliable spectral assignments we are applying state-of-the-art quantum chemistry methods.

14.1 T wide-bore Bruker Avance-III NMR spectrometer:

  • High-MAS 1.3 mm 1H-19F/7Li-14N probehead
  • Triple-resonance 1H/X/Y 3.2 mm and 4 mm MAS probeheads with wide range of available inserts for different combinations of nuclei on X-, and Y-channels   
  • Low-gamma 7 mm 1H/89Y-13C MAS probehead
  • Wide temperature range 5 mm static probehead   
  • BCU Extreme temperature controller

9.4 T wide-bore Bruker Avance-III NMR spectrometer:

  • High-MAS 2.5 mm 1H-19F/7Li-15N probehead
  • Triple-resonance 1H/X/Y 4 mm MAS probehead with wide range of available inserts for different combinations of nuclei on X-, and Y-channels
  • Double-resonance 7 mm 1H/X MAS probehead
  • BCU Extreme temperature controller

9.4 T liquid-state Bruker Avance NMR spectrometer, BBI, BBO, Z-gradient probeheads, temperature controller

Academic users: SEK 100/h, staff help with data processing & evaluation
Industrial users: SEK 350/h, SEK 1500/h for staff man hours

Academic projects have priority, industry users are accepted provided
that resources are available.
