170 participants from 5 continents on insurance conference

The Insurance Data Science Conference was held at Campus Albano on June 17-18 with Mathias Lindholm and Filip Lindskog (Department of Mathematics, SU) and Boualem Djehiche (Department of Mathematics, KTH) as organizers.

Filip Lindskog opened the conference.

The conference brings together university-based researchers and the insurance industry for presentations and discussions on the themes of data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computational statistics and new technologies used in the insurance industry.

- I expect quite a lot, since this is an international conference of insurance where the industry and the academics discuss issues and solutions. This is my first time in Stockholm. This is a nice place to network as well, says Nan Karlsson with Ernst & Young AB

- I want to keep myself up to date with things going on in the industry, especially on the field of machine learning, where new improvements are being made every day. This is the first time I attend, says Selim Gatti with ETH in Zürich.

Over 170 conference participants, the majority working in the insurance industry, from 5 continents and more than 20 countries experienced the conference in House 1 of the new Campus Albano.

The theme of the panel discussion was generative artificial intelligence in insurance, where leading representatives of the insurance industry gave their views on what the current developments in generative artificial intelligence will imply for the insurance industry.

Katrien Antonio (KU Leuven), Mario Wüthrich (ETH Zurich) and Björn Dalemo (Länsförsäkringar) gave longer keynote talks on modern topics in actuarial mathematics (Katrien and Mario) and new challenges for business management when advanced algorithms provide decision support (Björn).
