Welcome to the Department of Romance Studies and Classics!
The Department of Romance Studies and Classics (Romklass) is made up of the fields included in the title: language studies in French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Latin American area studies and Classical Languages (Greek and Latin). Romklass was created in year 2013 as the result of a merger between the former Dept. of French, Italian and Classical Languages and the Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese and the Latin American Studies at Stockholm University
Today, we celebrated the “nailing” of Marta Garbelli’s doctoral thesis. This tradition, known as “spikning” in Swedish, marks the formal announcement of a PhD candidate’s upcoming defense.
The new prize for the best article published in the British Journal of Canadian Studies in 2023 (Volume 35, issue 2) has been awarded to Christophe Premat for his article published in “Thinking a Decolonial Ontology from Natasha Kanapé Fontaine's Assi Manifesto”
The Brazilian educational portal, Brasil Escola, recently interviewed Laura Álvarez López, who has studied the unique linguistic expressions of "Pretos Velhos" (Old Black Slaves).
