On the 2nd of July, the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies welcomes Johan Nilsson Björk (San'yūtei Kōseinen) to Språkstudion for a guest lecture on rakugo, the traditional comical one man theater from Japan. A rakugo performance is special in that the actor sits alone on a cushion, portraying all the characters of the story on his own. It is a very minimalistic form of theater, in which the actor is often supported by some small prop such as a fan, and by miming.

The lecture is given in a combination of Swedish, English, and Japanese. Attendance is free of charge and the event is open to the public, however, you are required to sign up in order to attend. Please sign up by July 1st by sending an e-mail to mitsuyo.liden@su.se .
