Phone threat

Record the threat:

  • If possible, enlist the help of someone to listen in on the call.
  • Find out what kind of threat it is: bomb, sabotage or otherwise, and where and when the threat is to be executed.
  • Take down supporting notes in the “Checklist for Threats and Bomb Threats”.

Immediately alert/inform:

  • The police at tel. 112 (if the threat is urgent).
  • The university’s Security Team, hotline 08 16 12 00.
  • The responsible manager at the location/activity under threat.

Keep in mind:

  • Try to remain calm and matter-of-fact, both in the conversation with the person making the threat and with the people you alert/inform.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University’s operations must be reported in the SAMIR incident reporting system.

Letter bomb/suspected bomb in the premises

Act:

  • Call 112 and request “the police” for the disposal of the suspected bomb.
  • Activate the evacuation alarm to speed up evacuation.
  • Evacuate the room where the object is located and lock the doors or otherwise seal off the room.
     

Immediately alert/inform:

  • The university’s Security Team, hotline 08 16 12 00.
  • The responsible manager for the relevant location/activity.

  • Try to remain calm and matter-of-fact on the phone and with the people you alert/inform.

In the event of threats sent via e-mail or social media

Record the threat:

  • Save the e-mail or link or take a screenshot of the blog, comment field of the article or homepage.
  • Note the date and time when you received/discovered the message.

Inform/immediately inform:

  • The university’s Security Team, hotline 08 16 12 00.
  • Your immediate manager.
  • IT Support to trace the sender if possible.

 
Keep in mind:

  • Do not respond to the threat until you have consulted with your immediate manager.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University’s operations must be reported in the SAMIR incident reporting system.
  • Among other things, the Security Team can advise you on how to act, help draft a possible police report and arrange any necessary security guard support.

  • The Press and Editorial Team can also help you contact those responsible for websites where the threats are published and monitor social media in case of the risk of new threats.
