Eeva Jonsson

Stockholm Numismatic Institute Project

I am an educated archaeologist with focus on numismatics and at present I am a doctoral student at the University of Turku. The forthcoming doctoral thesis Fluctuations in the import of coins from the German Empire c. 950–1145 is financed by the Gunnar Ekström Foundation for Numismatic Research. My numismatic interests cover Viking-Age Western coins and coins of the Swedish Middle Ages. I have participated in various projects at the Numismatic Institute, Stockholm University, for example in a project tracking Viking-Age hoards on Gotland and in the project Metal analyses of coins.

I work as a curator at the Economy Museum – Royal Coin Cabinet since January 2024, with responsibility for Viking-Age coin finds.
