Modern period 1521–

A total of c. 202,000 coins has been found in hoards, single finds, and cumulative finds from the modern period.

The map shows the geographical distribution of the hoards. There is only a single hoard with at least 10,000 pcs.: Lilla Nygatan, Stockhom (18,217 pcs. - t.p.q. 1741). Otherwise there are concentrations of hoards above all in Scania, Blekinge, and Halland . The wealth of hoards is connected with the Scanian war 1676-1679. Hoards in the Mälar valley are often found in connection with building activities. Gotland, which during all previous periods has counted among the provinces with the richest finds, now has a comparatively small number of hoards.
