Seminar

Date: Wednesday 12 June 2024

Time: 10.30 – 12.00

Location: SUBIC seminar room or Zoom

Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Ronald Van den Berg, Department of Psychology, Stockholm University

Abstract

Pupillometry is the measurement of pupil size and reactivity, which can provide insights into cognitive and emotional processes. In the past decade, it has been used in research to study attention, arousal, and decision-making, as well as in clinical settings to diagnose and monitor neurological disorders.

In the first part of this seminar, Assoc. Prof. Ronald Van den Berg will give a brief overview of the history and theory behind pupillometry, discussing key studies and applications. This will include an explanation of how pupil size is influenced by factors such as light, focus, and cognitive load.
In the second part, he will demonstrate how to preprocess, analyze, and visualize pupil data. This will cover practical aspects such as dealing with blinks and missing data, baseline correction, and statistical analysis.
