Both distance and campus teaching at the Department Autumn 2020

The teaching at The Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism will mainly be online during the autumn term 2020. We are, however, planning for some examinations and occasional teaching on campus. Please read our FAQ: Questions and answers.

Swedish course for international employeers

Swedish Language Courses for International Employees at Stockholm University

The courses are designed to give a basic comprehension of the Swedish language and culture to foreign employees working at Stockholm University, in order to enhance every day communication in the academic environment. The courses are concluded with a final test. You apply via an online application form and your participation needs to be approved by your supervisor/head of department at Stockholm University. The courses don't give any higher education credits, however, all participants receive a diploma upon completion.

Att lära sig att kommunicera på ett nytt språk i professionella sammanhang kan innebära en stor utmaning – inte minst i akademiska sammanhang. Det vet Kathrin Kaufhold, lektor och forskare i lingvistik på Stockholms universitet, som själv använder mestadels engelska men också svenska som arbetsspråk.

Learning Swedish is a website administered by the Swedish Institute. It's a joint project between universities and university teachers in Sweden and abroad.

Do you need a study buddy?

Getting a buddy is a smart thing to do. You make new friends, you get someone to help you with questions and concerns, and someone to contact if you want to know more about Stockholm. It is also a great way to learn basic language skills.
