General Information

The conference The Baltic Languages - Structure and Contacts will be held June 11-12, 2010, at Stockholm University, Section for Baltic Languages.

The conference will be on all aspects of Baltic linguistics: description, documentation, historical development, and structure of the Baltic languages. We also welcome papers dealing with language contact – both past and present.

A period of twenty minutes will be allotted for each paper, followed by a ten-minute discussion period.

Invited speakers are: Prof. Bonifacas Stundžia, Vilnius University and Prof. Giedrius Subacius, University of Illinois at Chicago.

This conference is being arranged in commemoration of the first professorship of Baltic Languages, established 1970, at Stockholm University. The chair, placed at the Department for Slavic and Baltic Languages, was held by noted scholar in Baltic linguistics Velta Ruke-Dravina (1917-2003) until her retirement in 1983.

Conference fee: 30 €
