Magnetic Resonance Imaging

This course covers the fundamental NMR physics, MR-safety and introduces basic- and advanced MRI applications. The course has many teachers who all lecture within their own areas of expertise. The aim of the course is to prepare the student for work as an MR-physicist or to work with MR-physics.

This course is divided into two different parts. In the first part, “The basics of MRI”, the fundamentals of NMR physics are taught along with lectures describing how an MR image is acquired and reconstructed. This part also includes a theoretical and practical introduction to MR-safety. Part 1 ends with a bonus exam to prepare all participants for part two; “MRI applications and more”. The second part of the course contains a mixture of theoretical lectures, exercises, laboratory exercises, auscultation at an MRI clinic and an assignment to be presented to the class. Written laboratory reports and all practical parts of the course are obligatory.

  • Course structure

This is an advanced course given during daytime. The course is included in the Master`s Programme in Medical Physics.

    Teaching format

The education consists of a mixture of theoretical lectures, classroom exercises, practical parts such as demonstrations, laboratory exercises, auscultations and more. Two of the laboratory exercises requires written reports.

    Assessment

The course is examined through written exam, written lab reports and by participation in all practical moments.
