Clinical Radiation Therapy Physics
This course consists exclusively in practice in radiation therapy performed at the hospital. The course therefore aims at making you familiar with typical tasks for a medical physicist at a radiotherapy department, and understand the role of the medical physicist in radiotherapy.
The course covers the clinical application of physical and biological processes for radiation therapy and is a continuation of the theoretical course in radiotherapy.
You will participate actively to patient-related activities, and acquire deep knowledge of the diagnostic process from input to definition of target volume, treatment planning and implementation.
After taking the course you will be able to describe the flow around the radiotherapy chain, use clinically applied treatment protocols, master the clinical application of previously acquired knowledge in diagnosis, treatment planning, optimization, dosimetry, image processing and statistics and give examples of how the theoretical knowledge of radiotherapy is applied in the clinical practice.

Course structure
This is an advanced course given during the daytime. The course is included in the Master`s Programme in Medical Physics.
Teaching format
The education consists of practical demonstrations at the radiotherapy department within the hospital and self-study.
Assessment
The course is examined through an oral presentation of an assignment.

Schedule
The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.The course does not have a common schedule. Instead the schedule is individual for each student and presented at the beginning of the course.

When can I apply?
Registration is open from mid-March to mid-April for courses that run in the fall, and from mid-September to mid-October for courses that run in the spring.
Please note that many courses open for late registration in mid-July for courses in the autumn term and in mid-December for courses in the spring term.
