Mathematical Communication

How do we communicate mathematics in speech and writing, depending on the audience and the context?

The course covers

  • TeX and LaTeX. Presentations in Beamer and PowerPoint.
  • Mathematical popular science; writing popular science articles in mathematics.
  • Orientation and publishing in mathematical journals; writing scientific articles in mathematics.
  • Giving mathematical lectures or talks, both of a scientific and a popular science nature.
  • Getting information on relevant ethical and social aspects of research in pure and applied mathematics.
  • Questions about responsibility of how mathematics/mathematical statistisk/applied mathematics is used in the industry, in everyday life, and in social surveys.

This is one of the courses in our Master's Programme in Mathematics and our Master's Programme in Mathematical Statistics and Machine Learning, but can also be taken as a free-standing course.
