Through a focus on theoretical and methodological issues around the archive as media technology, the course provides an advanced introduction to some of today's most central Cinema Studies issues and research areas.
The aim is to develop critical thinking and analytical skills for independent research work.

August 6: Welcome emails start being sent out from us to those admitted - to the email address you used when you applied for the course/programme at antagning.se/universityadmissions.se
August 6 - 26: Online registration for all courses (unless otherwise stated in the welcome email). NOTE: To keep your place, you must register online, unless otherwise noted. The welcome email contains all the information you need for online registration.
Week 34, 2024: from this date, reserves can be accepted. You will be contacted via email and will have to respond quickly to accept your place.
September 2: Start of the Fall semester.

Welcome activities
Stockholm University organises a series of welcome activities that stretch over a few weeks at the beginning of each semester. The programme is voluntary (attendance is optional) and includes Arrival Service at the airport and an Orientation Day, see more details about these events below.

Course structure
Teaching format
Teaching consists of lectures, seminars and film screenings. Film screenings and seminars are mandatory. The language of instruction is English.
Assessment
For a passing grade on the course, the student must be able to:
- discuss and problematize archival theoretical issues and perspectives in the field of film and media science research, and
- independently apply archival science research perspectives in own analyzes.The course is examined with an oral presentation and a home exam.
Supplementation can be allowed if the student is close to the limit for passing, ie received the grade Fx. The assignment must be submitted within two weeks after the need for completion has been announced by the examiner. For approved completion, the grades A-E are used.

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course. -
