How to reach us

During the summer many of us are on vacation and we may be harder to reach. If you email someone who is on vacation you may get an auto-reply. If you get an auto-reply saying that the person you are trying to reach is on vacation, and your email is urgent, please send it on to the Student office at studentexpedition@math.su.se.

Re-sit exams in August

Many courses have a re-sit exam in August. To sit an exam, you must sign up for it (you can usually do this from a month in advance to 10 days before the exam), we cannot sign you up late if you forget. If you cannot sign up, you might need to be re-registered for the course and you should contact the Student office (studentexpedition@math.su.se) to be re-registered.

Autumn 2024

The autumn semester begins on 2 September, though some introductory meetings and welcome activities begin a little earlier.

Welcome Fair 30 August and other welcome activities

Please note that a few courses that are given via, or in cooperation with, KTH will start a week earlier, as KTH's autumn semester begins on 26 August. This applies to the following courses:

  • DA7048 Modelling of Processes in Cell Biology
  • DA8001 Program Construction in C++ for Physicists
  • MM7031 Enumerative combinatorics
  • MM7046 Advanced Real Analysis I
  • (BE7009 Advanced Numerical Methods is also given via KTH, but does not begin until the middle of the autumn)

Things to remember in the middle of summer

Reply to your offer of places on courses in the first admissions results of the second admissions round. You must do this in the middle of July to keep your place on those courses in the second admissions results.

Information about replying to your offer on Universityadmissions.se

If there is any course in the autumn that you want to take but did not apply for, we open late application on 15 July. Places are offered in the order of application, so it is good to apply early.

Conditionally admitted or deleted from your course?

If you have been deleted from a course because it says that you are not eligible, but you think that you do have the prerequisites, please contact the study advisors. If you are conditionally admitted to a course we will go through the conditions around the start of the semester, and if we think you are eligible for the course we will remove the condition. Please contact the study advisors if your conditions remain at the start of the course and you think that you are eligible.

To be allowed to take a course you need to be eligible when the course begins (though in practice it is enough to be eligible before registration closes).

Register for your courses

If you are admitted to a course, you need to register online via Ladok. Registration for the autumn courses opens on 5 August, and closes at different times for different courses:

  • Courses given and/or examined at KTH, so courses with the following course codes: DA7048, DA8001, MM7031, MM7046: last day for registration is Sunday 15 September. Register earlier if you can to get your KTH-account earlier.
  • BE7009, which is given via KTH but starts later: last day for registration is Sunday 17 November.
  • Other courses starting in September: last day for registration is Sunday 22 September.
  • Other courses starting in November: last day for registration is Sunday 24 November.

For courses given in Swedish, see the Swedish version of this page

In general you cannot register for programmes in Ladok, but must instead attend an introductory meeting. We will send more information by email if you are admitted to a programme.

Re-register for courses

Have you previously been registered for a course and want to complete it this autumn? If so, you can apply for re-registration.

Only apply for re-registration if you really intend to take the course, since you may not be granted re-registration on the course again another time if you don't follow the course and take part in exams this time.

Forms for applying for re-registration can be found here

We will begin processing applications in the second half of August.

Before you apply for re-registration, check that the course code of the course this autumn is the same as when you were previously registered for the course (you can find this in Ladok). If not, you should apply for the new version of the course via Universityadmissions.se if it is open for late application.

We hope you have a great summer!
