Asine revisited – A maritime archaeological project at Asini
In 1921 a Swedish archaeological field project was initiated at Asine in Greece by Axel W. Persson and Otto Frödin, and also with specific support by the then Swedish crown prince Gustaf Adolf. Now, a 100 years later archaeologists from Stockholm University, together with the Swedish Institute at Athens initiate a maritime investigation of the coast and waters around the Asini cliff. The aim is to trace ancient structures and finds. The investigation start on the 5th of October and will go on for two weeks.
