Stockholm University ranks 98 in the world 2023 according to ARWU
Stockholm University is ranked 98 in the 2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai Ranking. This means that Stockholm University is among the top 100 universities in the world, placing the university third in Sweden.
This year’s ranking list is topped by three American universities: Harvard, Stanford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Karolinska Institutet is ranked first among Swedish universities, at place 37. Uppsala University is ranked second at place 82 and Stockholm University third in Sweden at place 98.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), better known as Shanghai Ranking, measures the quality of research, including indicators such as the number of alumni and employed researchers who have won Nobel Prizes, the number of “highly cited” researchers and the number of articles published in the journals Nature and Science. This year, more than 2500 institutions were scrutinized, and the best 1000 universities in the world are published.
