About me

I hold a Ph.D. in Gender Studies from the Department of Ethnology, History of Religions and Gender Studies at Stockholm University. My doctoral thesis is a Swedish monograph with the English title Mas(s)turbatory Readings: A Queer Analysis of Popular Romance (2018). My research interests mainly include feminist cultural studies and queer theory. I hold a special interest for those types of popular culture that are associated with femininity and female audiences, such as boybands and romantic fiction. My current research project is entitled ”What About Swedish Romance? Conventions and Communities in Contemporary Swedish Popular Romance”. The project is an international postdoc, financed by the Swedish Research Council (VR). It is affiliated with the Danish research program Uses of Literature: The Social Dimensions of Literature and will be carried out at the Department for the Study of Culture at the University of Southern Denmark.
