About me

I come from Naples (Italy), universally known as the birthplace of pizza and, indeed, scientific pizza-making is currently one of my passions. My background is relatively diverse since I did classical studies before going into physics. I got a Master degree at the University of Naples Federico II (Italy) in semiconductors' physics for the development of astroparticle detectors. Then I got a Ph.D. at KTH-Royal Institute of Technology in solid-state condensed matter physics. Here my focus was the charachterization of the physical properties, phase transitions and critical phenomena in different crystalline systems, employing large scale neutron facilities and synchrotrons around the world [namely PSI (CH), SNS/Oak Ridge NL (USA), DESY (DE), ILL (FR), Diamond Light Source (UK), ISIS (UK), JPARC - KEK (JP), SPring8 (JP), Triumf (CA)]. The high-resolution experimental methods I have experience with are: Neutron Diffraction, Inelastic Neutron Scattering, Synchrotron x-ray Diffraction, x-ray Absorption Spectroscopy, Inelastic x-ray Scattering, Muon Spin Rotation, Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (very little).

About a year before graduation I was awarded a grant bestowed by SSF, which I am using to fund my current post-doctoral position at the Stockholm University. Here my research work is focused on studying the fundamental physical properties of super-insulating nanocellulose and carbon capture materials for Climate Change mtigation strategies.
