About me

I am Fatemeh, and my nickname is Negar (feel free to call me both). I strongly believe that "Soil is Alive" and we have a responsibility to preserve its quality. I am a soil scientist with a background in digital soil mapping, specifically in pedometrics. Pedometrics is a branch of soil science that applies statistical and mathematical tools to analyze and interpret soil data as a sustainable resource.

My main research interests include digital soil mapping, machine learning, remote sensing, spatial modeling, and the interactions between soil and the environment. Currently, I am involved in an EU project called AI4SoilHealth (https://ai4soilhealth.eu/). I am working with Gustaf Hugelius and Thomas Gumbricht. Within the project, we are responsible for developing in-situ tools for observing and monitoring soil health. This involves combining different data types and creating a rapid soil health assessment tool that our partners will implement in a mobile app. I am passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest developments in these fields and enjoy learning new techniques.
