About Me

I am a research engineer at DEEP's Marine Ecological Laboratory, where I work primarily in national and regional environmental monitoring, focusing on vegetated bottoms and soft sediment bottoms. For the environmental monitoring program that investigates vegetated bottoms (Fytalen, see link on the right) I am responsible for its execution in accordance with ongoing agreements. Regarding soft sediment bottoms I am primarily a resource for field sampling.

In addition to the above, I have overall responsibility for diving activities at DEEP. If you have questions about diving on duty, regulations, laws, training, or any other matters related to scuba diving or freediving at DEEP, feel free to contact me.

I also, together with the staff at the Askö Laboratory, oversee the diving activities there and the diving room with the available dive compressor.

I am also the environmental representative for DEEP's part of Stockholm University's overall environmental work. I work with other colleagues in the environmental group and DEEP's management.

Marine Ecological Laboratory - MEL

The Marine Ecological Laboratory (MEL) at DEEP conducts sampling and analysis of water chemistry, plankton, benthic fauna, and macrophytes (plants and algae), with a special focus on the Baltic Sea. The operations are accredited by Swedac, and we are a leading laboratory in several areas.

The foundation of our activities lies in various sampling programs where we monitor the environmental conditions of the Baltic Sea in the pelagic zone and on soft and hard bottoms, integrating monitoring with ecological research (LTER). Long time series, some of which started in the 1970s, are becoming increasingly valuable for understanding the ecology of the Baltic Sea and what influences changes caused by eutrophication and climate change. Regular sampling is also a crucial platform for various research projects, collecting samples coordinated with environmental monitoring and gaining access to fundamental data.
