About me

I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Political Science, Stockholm University. Here, I work within the project Transformative Partnerships 2030. We investigate effectiveness of partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN.

Before, I defended my doctoral thesis at the Department of Government, Uppsala University, in Sept. 2022. I am also an alumnus of the Centre of Natural Hazards and Disaster Science (CNDS). I hold a BA from Mannheim University and an MA in European Culture and Economy (ECUE) from Ruhr-University Bochum, while my thesis was also examined at Gothenburg University.

My dissertation project investigated change and progress in disaster risk reduction in relation to the international environmental regime of the Hyogo Framework and in developing countries.

My research interests include sustainable development and environmental politics as well as disaster and crisis governance. In my research, I employ a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Research

My research interests comprise governance and public policy, in particular in the area of environmental politics from climate change and sustainable development to crisis management and disaster risk reduction (DRR). In particular, multi-level and polycentric governance is of interest to me and the following (cross-sectoral) collaboration.

My dissertation project focused on change and progress in DRR in the world. Thereby, I reorient the attention from failures and disasters towards positive change in order to gain valuable insights in how to make development more sustainable. Included articles identify patterns of change under the international regime of UN-led Hyogo Framework for Action, test hypotheses on drivers of change, and follow developments of DRR regimes over time in the governance systems of Fiji and Nepal.

Now, within the Transformative Partnership 2030 project, I am interested in questions of effectiveness of partnerships for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN.
