Research project Body and Relationships

Cosmetic surgery is a current phenomenon that can raise many questions about the body, identity and relationships where the decision to undergo a surgical breast augmentation can raise concerns about how it is received and what consequences may follow in relationships with family and friends.

The study is based on a feminist perspective where women can be said to be exposed in a double sense; they relate to societal expectations of women's bodies and at the same time they express how they risk having negative reactions to their decision.

The overall purpose of the project is to study bodily change through cosmetic surgery. Sub-studies, that have been carried out, are how the decision to undergo breast augmentation is expected to be received in close relationships.
