Research project Cross-linguistic differences between Swedish and Spanish in the domain of causation [...]

Cross-linguistic differences between Swedish and Spanish in the domain of causation and its impact on monolingual-bilingual witness memory.Spanish monolinguals, and Swedish-Spanish bilinguals.

The study is aimed to investigate cross-linguistic differences in witness memory for causal intentionality among Swedish and Spanish monolinguals, and Swedish-Spanish bilinguals.

The first goal of the study is to research whether Swedish and Spanish monolinguals show differences in how they describe, codify, and recall intentional and accidental events, and to explore the performance of Swedish-Spanish bilinguals in the same tasks, in Swedish and Spanish respectively.

The second goal is to identify sentence constructions that might enhance or diminish memory performance for each group, between and within groups, and to analyze whether these linguistic formulations are equivalent in both languages.

The ultimate goal of the study is to increase the existing knowledge about the relationship between cross-linguistic differences and memory in the domain of causation.
