Research project Evidence-based internet-delivered treatment for problematic alcohol use

Internet-delivered treatment of varying forms of psychiatric problems is currently being used successfully in healthcare. Internet-delivered treatment of problematic alcohol use as a rehabilitation intervention in the workplace could potentially provide increased health among employees, as well as decreased sickness leave and productivity loss.

In this project we investigate internet-delivered treatment of problematic alcohol use in a workplace context, both from an employee- and an employer perspective. Employees who have gone through treatment will be interviewed about helping and hindering factors related to the treatment as well as about the significance of the workplace for their experience and outcome of the treatment. Employer representatives will be interviewed about how they feel that the treatment has been working in relation to the workplace context.

Increased knowledge about internet-delivered treatment in a workplace context could contribute to effective implementation and lead to greater spread of this form of treatment. People who otherwise would not come into contact with psychological treatment could here gain access to evidence-based treatment for problematic alcohol use, while the employer gets help for both the employee and the workplace at a lower cost and with less work time loss.

The complete project title is: Evidence-based internet-delivered treatment for problematic alcohol use – a qualitative study about its role in the workplace.
