Research project National research hub digitalization in preschool

National research hub digitalization in preschool was founded on the initiative of Susanne Kjällander (Associate Professor in Preschool Education) in February 2020. All PhD researchers who study digital tools in preschool at Swedish higher education institutions are welcome to participate.

The purpose of the hub is to discuss texts (published and work-in-progress) on digital tools in preschool, to write scientific publications together, to search research funding together, act as a body for proposals (from, for example, the Swedish National Agency for Education) linked to the research area and reach out nationally to all Swedish preschools via the so called “third task”.

Project description

Most of the members of the National research hub digitalization in preschool have their research presented in one or both of the following two books: Digitalisation in preschool on a scientific basis (Natur och kultur, 2019) and What does research on Swedish preschool say? (Liber, 2020). You can see the individual researchers' publications on their respectively personal University page.

The hub was started by Susanne Kjällander at the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Stockholm University in 2020 and meets 4 times a year. At each meeting, one or more researchers present their projects, publications or other ideas, where after group discussions take place about research applications, joint writing work, conferences or different types of publications – both popular science and others.

The so called “third task” and interaction with the field is a common thread. An elaborate collaboration with The Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company, UR, is underway and new collaborations have been arranged, such as one with the Swedish journal Education & Learning.
