Research project Promoting Food Security in an Era of Environmental and Geopolitical Change

This project examines how countries suffering from food insecurity can develop coping mechanisms and be supported by the international community.

We will explore how the confluence of geopolitics and climate impacts affects global food insecurities, with case points in states that have been exposed to a combination of violent conflict and food insecurity. The work will place particular emphasis on the gender dimension of food insecurity. The project will examine when and how
international aid could alleviate food insecurities given the complex food-conflict link, taking into account that a complex set of political and economic factors, and socio-economic inequalities will shape aid effectiveness in combating food insecurity. The project will contribute new knowledge linked to the attainment of SDGs 2, 5, and 16.
