PhD project.
The thesis explores street and market vendors' socio-spatial practices in response to the restructuring and respatializing of an African city, as well as the collective agency of vendors - through exploring both emerging networks between individual vendors as well as vendors associations' challenges and socio-spatial practices.
Empirically, I focused on vendors in urban areas on the Zambian Copperbelt, in particular the cities of Kitwe and Ndola. Vendors in other urban areas in Zambia are included if they belong to a national vendors' association.
