Research project The insurability of sustainability risks

Research project exploring how sustainability risks can be insured and which insurance solutions are best suited to address these risks.

The research project examines the insurability of sustainability risks and proposes appropriate forms of insurance to regulate certain types of sustainability risks. Given the increasing importance of sustainability issues in society, it is important to analyze sustainability issues from an insurance law perspective, which can also provide guidance for the practical legal management of these issues.

The intention is that the research project will be part of a larger project related to liability issues linked to sustainability. The insurance law part of the study is clearly linked to contract and tort law rules regarding sustainability risks and is anchored in how conventional insurance products are designed. This raises questions about how insurance contract law rules relate to the possibility of refusing insurance or terminating a business insurance policy for failure to meet the insurer’s sustainability goals and how sustainability risks affect the contractual relationship between insurer and policyholder.

The results will be published in the form of one or more peer-reviewed articles.
