Research project The victims’ needs and legal possibilities

– particularly about the role as plaintiff in Swedish criminal proceedings.

The plaintiff figure's function, as the project's main object of study, sprung out of the broader questions of what the legal status of crime victims has historically looked like, looks like today and should look like in the future. The project has a victim perspective and spans over several areas of law: procedural law, tort law and criminal law, then social law and other protective legislation are also of interest. In addition, a victimological knowledge review will be included. The intention is that the external perspective that victimology brings can work both to illustrate the actual consequences and functions, of present regulation around victims of crime, in our society as well as to provide a clearer picture of the victim's real needs and wants.
