Studies of the interactions between membrane proteins and lipids has long been a focus at the department of biochemistry and biophysics. It is a challenging area of research where the study of the dynamic aspects of interactions of the lipids is paramount.

For the experimental studies, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques are uniquely suited for this research, as they provide excellent tools for determining structure, and at the same time methods that can be used to investigate dynamics on a wide time-scale. This is important for a deeper understanding of the effects of the lipid-associated interactions.
