Accounting section

The accounting section at Stockholm Business School is a dynamic and friendly academic community that combines a keen empirical interest with a strong ambition to contribute to theory.

With a team of 15 dedicated researchers and 5 PhD students, the section's research encompasses a broad range of topics, including auditing, financial accounting, management control, and operational management.

One of the section's defining characteristics is its interdisciplinary approach to research. Many faculty members draw on theories from other fields such as sociology, philosophy, political science, and behavioral economics to enhance our understanding of empirical settings. While the section values quantitative research, it primarily focuses on qualitative methods to deepen our understanding of the social, political, and economic contexts in which accounting practices occur.

In addition to publishing research in academic journals, the faculty members are committed to engaging with the wider society and making their research available to students at all levels. The department is dedicated to providing high-quality education to its students, and the faculty members use various teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
