Research subject Canadian Studies
Canadian Studies is an interdisciplinary field that deals with all social and cultural phenomena related to Canada.
They are usually included in area studies and focus on Canada’s official bilingualism, Indigenous minorities, the various literary productions, politics and the construction of the Canadian nation. A particular attention is paid to how French and English languages interact. The comparative perspective with the Scandinavian and Nordic countries enlightens the specificity of the multicultural Canadian model. The field is supported at Stockholm University by the Centre for Canadian Studies which is a network of scholars working on Canada with this interdisciplinary method.
