Global politics focuses on the ways international issues relate to gender, sexuality and other social hierarchies.

This research investigates how the challenges facing the world – such as war and military conflicts, the oppression of minorities, and social and economic inequalities – are gendered. The studies span countries and contexts, and recognize that states and organisations, as well as of individuals and culture, influence global power relations.

Our researchers employ varying theories, including queer theory, critical heritage approaches and transnational perspectives. Research outcomes range from the gendered making of Cold War memories in Sweden to how feminists in Brazil mobilise.
