Research subject Masculinity Studies
Researchers within this subfield have an interest in men and masculinities, which are studied from several feminist, intersectional, and critical perspectives.
They are interested in power relations and normativities on several levels; from the discursive and symbolic to lived experience. The “doing” of masculinities and how they are given meaning are explored, as are men’s lives, power, and practices in different contexts. Theoretical issues regarding power, hegemony, dominance, and change are important within this research area.
