Religion as a phenomenon in constant change is a corner stone in the history of religions. In this field of research, lived religion addresses religion as a part of peoples’ everyday life.

We turn our gaze away from the normative values of the religious elites, and focus instead on how religion is lived and apprehended by ordinary people in their daily lives – at home, at work, in society at large, but also within the frames of religious institutions. The scholars in this field conduct research in a broad range of themes, such as belief and everyday practices, but also theoretical themes such as materiality and embodiment.
