At Stockholm University research is conducted within in the field of second language acquisition, where the learning of the Romance languages in particular is in focus.

The research conducted with Italian as the target language focuses largely on morphosyntax in the form of learning patterns related to gender, number, and tempus and aspect, but we also conduct research on vocabulary learning and on the structure and organization of the mental lexicon. Our studies often have a multilingual perspective, where differences between how a first language and a second language affect the learning of one or more additional languages are in focus.
