Research subject Latin literature
Scholarly research in Latin literature at Stockholm University concerns primarily Roman literature, along with cultural studies, broadly understood, even about medieval works in Latin.
Ongoing and earlier projects deal with central authors such as Caesar, Ovid and Sallust, as well as studies of genres such as the Roman novel, satire, historiography and medieval literary commentaries.
Research methods and frameworks include close readings, narratology and reception studies that all normally also use interdisciplinary approaches.
Latin literature falls under Literary Research as one of the leading research areas at SU. Researchers in classics form part of the managing committee of the interdisciplinary group the Premodern Seminar.
