This research area focuses on conceptions and institutional responses regarding human diversity in education and care contexts in particular. Ultimately it is about the kinds of lives that are imposed or made possible for different groups of people through various ethical norms, power structures and professional practices.

Research in this area engages with well-being, good life, and social justice in relation to disability and difference, as well as with the practices and legitimation strategies within special education. Studies in the field cover historical, comparative and theoretical accounts on policy and practice in various societal and professional contexts.
