Macroeconomics

Mandatory course within the Masterprogramme.

The course aims at providing students with a thorough understanding of key macroeconomic concepts, theories, analytical tools, and empirical regularities. The focus is on monetary and fiscal policy, business cycles, and consumption and investment theory. If time allows, the course also covers exchange rate determination and international capital flows. The theories will be applied to current macroeconomic issues.

  • Course structure

    This is a 7.5 credit course.

    Course material will be available through the learning platform Athena during the course.

    Teaching format

    Instruction will be in the form of lectures and group exercises. The language of instruction is English.

    Assessment

    The course is examined through a written exam at the end of the course and through hand-in assignmentsduring the course. Assignments are voluntary but give credit toward the final grade. The credit fromassignments is only valid during the semester it was gained.

  • Schedule

    The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.

    Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
