Proficiency course in journalism, ideal for students looking for complementary studies within a Master's Programme and to turn an academic text into a work of Science Journalism.
The course is an introduction to journalistic writing with a focus on science journalism. It highlights ethical issues and problematizes the respective roles of scientific knowledge and journalism.
The practical part of the course consists of writing exercises and the collection of your own material as well as external monitoring in journalistic publications. Under supervision, you will write texts based on your own area of expertise.

August 6: Welcome emails start being sent out from us to those admitted - to the email address you used when you applied for the course/programme at antagning.se/universityadmissions.se
August 6 - 26: Online registration for all courses (unless otherwise stated in the welcome email). NOTE: To keep your place, you must register online, unless otherwise noted. The welcome email contains all the information you need for online registration.
Week 34, 2024: from this date, reserves can be accepted. You will be contacted via email and will have to respond quickly to accept your place.

Welcome activities
Stockholm University organises a series of welcome activities that stretch over a few weeks at the beginning of each semester. The programme is voluntary (attendance is optional) and includes Arrival Service at the airport and an Orientation Day, see more details about these events below.

Teaching format
The teaching consists of lectures, seminars and practical application exercises. Course requirements:Seminars, oral and written presentations and practical application exercises are compulsory elements of thecourse. Teaching takes place in the language specified in the application information each time the course is advertised.

Meet our teachers
Course teachers have extensive professional journalism experience internationally and in Sweden. The course coordinator is director of studies for journalism, and has taught journalism at universities in Sweden and the United States. has a professional background as a journalist contributing to the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times and other international and Swedish publications, and conducts research on visual journalism and editorial processes
